Mr. Mardini, whose parents are from
Mardin’s Yaylabaşı village was born in
Diyarbakır on November 5th
1978. He was 6th of 7
brothers and sisters and his father was
a government officer in Turkey
Agricultural Equipping Institute. He had
to continue to his education in
different provinces because of his
fathers profession.
He studied at Diyarbakır’s Çınar
district until primary school second
grade then he moved with his family to
Isparta’s Gelendost town becase of his
father’s designation. He completed third
grade at Gelendost. His talents started
to be noticeable at that years. The
beauty of his voice was noticed by
people especially at the drama plays
that he took role in at school.
At the 5th grade, he won the
third prize at Poem reading competition
among neighboring towns. Later on at the
junior high school years he took place
in lots of social and cultural
activities. During the time of junior
high school and high school he played
drama for 5 years. He won the first
price at high school’s singing
competition. He started to have great
interest in music at that time. He
really wished to play a musical
instrument.

He was so eager to learn to play that he was watching his elder sister and
brother while they were practicing at home who were attending to a “bağlama” (
folk instrument with three double strings ) course and also trying to learn and
practice by himself. After a while he started to play “bağlama” as well. After
the retirement of his father they moved to İstanbul.
He settled in Avcılar district in İstanbul. He continued his high school
education at Avcılar Süleyman Nazif High School from the 3rd grade.
Again he continued to take place in social activities and concerts at school. As
he could not get in University he decided to get into business life.. He started
to work with his brothers and sisters in the textile company that his father
owns. He worked in every stages. After spending 2 years in his father’s textile
business, he got registered to a “bağlama” course next to their textile company.
He met someone who really plays “bağlama” very well at the course where they
went to a bar at Avcılar one night to have some fun. While they were singing on
their table, the owner of the bar liked his singing and asked him sing on the
stage and after being admired he offered him to take to the stage at nights.
In
fact it was just a coincidence to start his music career in the meaning of stage.
During this time he was working at his father’s company at daytime and started
to take to stage at nights in secret. He was considered to be really successful
on singing among his friends. Then he started to receive offers from different
districts of İstanbul which really urged him to think serious about and
increased his great interest in professional music life and offers as well. But
his textile business was still continuing. When he realized that it is too
difficult to continue on both ways, he decided to share his opinion with his
family and informed them that he was taking to the stage at nights and want to
go on his career on music. He received great support from his family.
Just after receiving the offer, he started to work at “Bakırköy
Prestij Bar”. Then he started to receive more offers. In order to advance in
his professional music career he started to take musical note and necessary
music lessons. Actually he wanted to study at “Academy of Music” but he could
not win the examinations. He thought that it wass not necessary to have a
graduation degree from the Academy of Music if a person wishes to go further on
this career he or she could improve himself by taking private lessons and with
the help of his musical talents.
After taking to the stage
for a few years at bakırköy, he was offered to perform a ballad night at “Etiler
Zorba Bar” once in a week which he started on Sundays. After a while he started
taking to the stage at “Taksim Mektup Bar” which he currently performs at. His
elder brother started to assist him on the stage with his guitar. Finally his
first professional album which was produced by “Canan Production” was in the
market in November 2000. Whether because of production, publicity or advertising
mistakes the album could not reach to focused crowd of people. This album was a
good experience for him. He struggled for his career between 2000 – 2002 and
finally he did his ideal album that he was dreaming about…
